After Action: STL Veterans Parade

After Action Report No. 9
Date: 08 Nov 2014
Type: Living Hist.
Place: St. Louis Veterans Day Parade
Report filed by: Sgt Adkins, Chase T.

In the wee morning hours of 8 Saturday 2014, Pvt Stefl and myself linked up at the designated rendezvous point (his house) to make the trip through enemy territory to downtown St. Louis for the 2014 Veterans Day Parade. Upon link up we conducted PCC’s and PCI’s of personnel and equipment. We then set out to make the link up at 0930 with Ssg Gary Adkins FSSF near Union Station, where we would then receive our pre mission briefing. From there our small group set out on foot to the Soldiers Memorial for the pre-parade festivities of speeches, the National Anthem, POW/MIA ceremony, and Taps. We then moved to our staging area near the tail end of the parade, where we ran into several familiar faces from the 2nd Ranger Bn. Shortly after the exchanging of pleasantries the parade kicked off, we wound through downtown ending back at Union Station, form there we decide to make an Alamo run, found a few items of interest and called it quits. All in all, the event went well, the parade was much smaller than years past, but still fun. Next year I would like to see a larger turnout from our guys, seeing that it’s a local day event.
